minimal crew remote production…

Some States, Including parts of California (hopefully soon to be LA county) are currently opened with limited crews allowed on set. This leaves many productions with the responsibility of providing a remote solution to connect Director, Sometimes the DP, Client and Agency all together in one common place to work remotely. SetNet has developed a very refined solution for connecting all the necessary crew members to those who would be working remotely to meet the CDC guidelines for each state, as well as keeping everyone as safe as possible during this time.

SetNet provides each production with an online web conference platform that is hosted by Setnet, Allowing for additional security to be added to each production. Once everyone has registered and been approved by the host each person will be assigned to a specific destination. The Conference will mimic the on set experience as much as possible. For the most part everything will be conducted in two rooms. The “SET ROOM” and the “VIDEO VILLAGE ROOM”.

For example, with the SetNet supplied hardware on the local set, The Director can communicate to the local set and visa versa the local crew can communicate to the “Set Room”. The Director can also direct Talent as needed. Script Supervisors and any other necessary remote crew can also work remotely and communicate with both the Director and local crew as needed. Within the conference platform The Director will have a little to no latency live image feed as well as a 2-3 second delayed HIGH QUALITY CONFIDENCE FEED used outside of the conference platform.  There will also be a VTR person to supply playback inside the “SET ROOM”.

Client and Agency are assigned to the ‘VIDEO VILLAGE ROOM”. There they will have a conference assistant to help them through any questions they may have throughout the remote production. Another VTR representative will supply them with both a live image from Camera as well as playback upon request. This room allows the client and agency to speak freely within this private area and conduct business as if they were on set locally. The Director can come over to this room at anytime to discuss anything needed.

This is a brief overview of what SetNet can provide a remote production with minimal crew. We want you to know we are here for you; We welcome all inquires and will always do our best to supply you with any specific information you need. If you have any questions or need more in-depth specifications please feel free to all us during business hours.

NO ON SET crew remote production…

If you are a production that finds itself were there is NO crew allow on set then SetNet has a solution for that as well. This system has been designed with no contact in mind.  A small shipment of hardware to the location is all you need. Once hardware is received just a quick FaceTime can be scheduled to set up the connection.

This hardware solution will link the Set to an online web conference platform that is hosted by Setnet, Allowing for additional security to be added to each production. Once everyone has registered and been approved by the host each person will be assigned to a specific destination. The Conference will mimic the on set experience as much as possible. For the most part everything will be conducted in three rooms. The “SET ROOM” the “VIDEO VILLAGE ROOM” and the “TECH ROOM”.

The Director will be able to communicate with the talent on the “set” from their own remote workspace. The “ SET ROOM” In the web conference platform runs just like most on set experiences. A 1st AD can also communicate with talent via their own remote workspace as well. The AD and Director will work together to complete a scheduled day. The set room also always all there necessary personnel to speak to the director as well if needed. For example the Script Supervisor as well as the DP can give notes.

The remote DIT director, DIT, 1ST AC, VTR, and SOUND mixer can all be in the TECH ROOM. This limits the amount of cross talk on set and makes for the better communication between the director and the talent.
